CHAARM – Combined Highly Active Anti-retroviral Microbicides

The aim of the CHAARM project is to develop combinations of highly active specifically targeted microbicides to prevent HIV transmission through sexual intercourse.
In addition to developing new microbicides and testing novel combinations of established compounds, CHAARM develops rigorous procedures for testing efficacy and safety using new model systems.  The programme includes human studies to determine microbicide safety and investigate biomarkers associated with health or damage at mucosal surfaces. It also develops procedures for formulation and potential scale-up production of microbicides.

Minerva is the project coordinator and communication partner of CHAARM project. Minerva is responsible for the preparation of the communication tools needed for the dissemination of the project’s research.
